One two-bedroom villa on the beach at Sedoen, just north of Nemberala, with unobstructed views over four surf spots: Squealers and the Bombie out front, T-Land across the channel.

WaveHaven is a single boutique villa, not a hotel. You have the house, the pool and the view to yourselves.

- On the beach in Sedoen, the village just north of Nemberala on the west coast of Rote Island, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Directly in front of the surf and foil spot of Squealers.
- Bedrooms
- Main house: bedroom with a king-size bed, ensuite and a small office desk. Second building (left of the pool): a very large bedroom with two beds that join into a king, with its own ensuite shower and WC.
- Views
- Ocean view from the living room and the main bedroom; the second bedroom looks over the pool. The outdoor breakfast area faces Squealers and the Bombie.
- Internet & power
- Starlink internet at around 75 Mbps, with a full battery backup system, so you stay online when the island power goes off.
- Pool
- Private pool and patio with sun loungers, screened for privacy.
- Gear
- Large board storage for surfboards, foils, windsurf and wing equipment.
- Distance to T-Land
- About 1 km across the channel. The easiest way out is the local boat taxi (around US$3).
- Transfers
- We help set up your transfers between Rote’s airport or ferry port and the villa. WaveHaven does not run tow or boat transfer services.
- Availability
- 2026 is fully booked. We are taking enquiries for 2027.
Open plan, facing the reef
A 100 m² house with an open-plan kitchen and living room, a king-size bedroom with ensuite, and a desk for the days you need to work. After a session you can watch the surfers and foilers on Squealers from the sofa or the deck.

A separate room by the pool
The second building, to the left of the pool, holds one very large bedroom with two beds that can be joined into a king. It has its own ensuite shower and WC, which works well for friends travelling together or a family.

Designed to blend in
The villa was designed by one of Bali’s top architects. We wanted something stylish but understated that sits quietly in the Rote landscape, mixing the local building style with art and custom-made furniture from Bali.

15+ years in surf hospitality
We opened a surf & yoga retreat in the Caribbean in 2009 (Swell Surf Camp in the Dominican Republic) and a purpose-built surf retreat in Bingin, Bali, in 2020.
We no longer run the Bali retreat: Bingin got too busy, in the water and on the streets, to give guests the surf holiday they came for. Rote is the opposite, and that is why we built here.
The Caribbean suits first-time surfers. WaveHaven suits surfers of all levels who want quiet lineups and waves right in front of the house.

How many bedrooms does WaveHaven have?
Two, both with an ensuite. The main house has a king-size bedroom; the separate pool-side building has a very large bedroom with two beds that join into a king.
Is WaveHaven on the beach?
Yes. The villa is beachfront in Sedoen, just north of Nemberala, directly in front of Squealers. From the house you look over Squealers, the Bombie, the Sandbank and across to T-Land.
Is there good WiFi?
Yes. We have Starlink at around 75 Mbps, and a full battery backup system keeps you online when the island power goes off. There is a designated office workspace in the main house.
How far is T-Land from the villa?
About 1 km, across the T-Land channel. Most people take the local boat taxi, which costs around US$3.
Can I store surfboards and foils?
Yes. There is large board storage for surfboards, foils, windsurf and wing equipment.
Do you arrange transfers?
We help set up transfers between Rote’s airport or ferry port and the villa, and may be able to arrange bag and board collection for the fast ferry. We do not run tow or boat transfer services.
Can you organise surf lessons?
Yes. There are good surf schools on Rote for all levels. Ask when you book and we will help set up lessons.
Is WaveHaven available in 2026?
No, 2026 is fully booked. We are taking enquiries for 2027.
Come for the long lefts
WaveHaven is one villa, so we only host one group at a time. Tell us roughly when you’d like to come and who’s travelling, and we’ll reply ourselves.
